About Excellcomm

Excellcomm is a professional & technical services company focusing on providing a wide range of consultancy, business development, technical, operational and regulatory support services to the communications sector in the Middle East and South/Central Asian regions.

Excellcomm was founded by some of the leading and most experienced professionals in the communication sector with recognized track record of working in senior roles within the global telecom industry.

Excellcomm brings to bear a unique combination of consultancy based approach, technical expertise as well as extensive hands-on operational experience in the markets, businesses and operations of its target partners and clients.

Management Team

MFarrukh Khan- Principal Consultant

Furrukh is co-founder and Director of Excellcomm – he brings over 26 years of experience in the international telecommunications and IUT sectors. Furrukh grew up and received all his education in the UK graduating with BSc (Hons.) in engineering from Surrey University followed by an MBA from Cranfield School of Management. He developed his early business and management skills at General Electric Company (GE) which he joined after completion of his MBA. After GE, he continued his career at Nortel where his last position (his last formal job) was as Regional Director for South Asia and Iran where he spearheaded Nortel’s entry into South Asia. He returned to Pakistan for family and patriotic reasons and started his entrepreneurial career – starting a number of businesses in the IT, telecommunications consulting areas. He also founded and managed as the Head of the Department, the Department of Technology Management at the International Islamic University, Islamabad from 1997-2001. Excellcomm is one of his latest ventures-Excellcomm focus is on adding value to the business of their partners and clients in any management or technical discipline.

Parvez Abbasi- Principal Consultant

Parvez grew up in the United Kingdom where he completed his studies from the University of North London, specializing in telecom engineering. Passion for the mobiles phones at an early age propelled Parvez into a fast paced career spanning over 23 years of corporate, strategic, operational and entrepreneurial experience. Parvez is a well-known figure in the telecom industry with in the Asia pacific and MENA region. Parvez has worked with many leading international telecom players including BT, Millicom, Motorola and Orascom, as well as local players such as Instaphone, Paktel, and Mobilink. Parvez is also the founding director and chief executive of Mobilezone which is the largest mobile phone handsets retailing concern in Pakistan. This unique experience from a small humble start up to dominate regional player across diversified markets such as Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Dubai and Pakistan is unique. Parvez has a wealth of operational experience both with start up’s and established operators and all levels. Prior to establishing mobilezone, Parvez was director sales and marketing for Mobilink and he was responsible for all commercial activities of the company. Key successes include the launch of Jazz prepaid services and the Mobilink nationwide franchise network, both of which are considered as the backbone of Mobilink’s thirty million plus subscriber base. Parvez has a unique view of the telecom scenario having worked in both environments and very close to both consumers as well as the sales channels. Parvez has partnered with international players including Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, Sonyericsson as well as regional GSM network operators such Mobilink, Telenor, Ufone, Warid, Zong, Roshan, AWCC, Grameen and Banglalink. Parvez is also the founding chairman of Murree Welfare Foundation (MWF), which is a registered NGO, attempting to improve the quality of local people through rural health and educational support programs

Syed Najam Saeed – Principal Consultant

Najam is a senior professional with over 24 years of progressive experience of working in most diverse and complex business situations during the career and specialize in leading cross-functional teams in a multi-dimensional environment with sensitive people management. He has the unique work experience of organizations with varying scope of work ranging from Corporate Sector to Public Sector and from International Donor Agencies to Educational Institutions. After his MBA in 1987 Najam started his professional career with the American Express from where he moved on to work with the United States Agency for International Development where for the first time he was trained in the areas of HRM and HRD. He has never looked back since than and turned out as a seasoned HRM, HRD, and OD & Business Policy GURU. He has worked with the Development Health Sector, Educational Sector, Telecom and Retail Sector as well as the Public Sector. He was picked up by the government of Pakistan in 2005 to work on the reforms agenda that included the Civil Service Reforms, Police & Health Reforms, Pay & Pension Reforms, development of Health Service Structures and the complete revamping of the CSS examination system with the focus on the implementation of the HRM and OD in the public sector. In his last posting as the Chief Operating Officer of the Metro Group of Companies (Private) Limited, Najam looked after two retail brands of the Shoes & Bags all over Pakistan. His 31 months of stint with the group saw Metro Shoes growing from 6 branches to 18 and Stiletto from 3 branches to 6. He also implemented Microsoft Retail Management System that is a complete ERP solution for the shoes retail sector. On the personal note as free lance Marketing Communication Specialist Najam has also worked with Unilever Pakistan Limited as a Concept Developer, Director, and Producer of a 19 Episode Mega Drama serial in collaboration with the National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka as part of Brand Development Strategy for Lipton Yellow label. During the last 16 years he has produced, directed, written and hosted number of television productions ranging from cooking shows to tele-films and from live shows to issues oriented talk shows.

Asim Sattar – Senior Consultant

20 years of diverse telecom experience, spanning across sales, marketing, customer service and new product & market development. Worked with companies like Motorola, Orascom, Telenor and Wateen both as telecom professional and entrepreneur developing immense understanding and knowledge of the business dynamics. MBA with Marketing Specialization, started career as a marketing executive with American Express Travels as a young professional, later moved on to make telecom core expertise. Work experience at Motorola, provided in-depth knowledge of launching services in new and diverse territories successfully. Identifying strong channel partners and developing them into viable long term business associates. At Orascom, developed the first purpose built Call Centre of 100 agents in Pakistan. Have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of call centre and customer service practices at all touch points. Developed CS processes and procedure based on international standards. In- depth understanding of KPI for agents and supervisor performance evaluation. Developed and conducted training sessions of CS practices for developing "Customer First" approach among team members. Gap identification within the organization and coaching both individuals & teams for improving operational performance. Converting board room vision into reality by creating understanding at the middle level tier & ensuring implementation across all levels. Working as an entrepreneur developed a new perspective of achieving a complete end to end solution for high returns on investment. Developed strong understanding of Retail Channel Management, developed & harnessed channel partners to make profit both for the principle and the channel

Waqar Hassan Shahid- Consultant

A results-driven, customer-focused, articulate and analytical Telecom Professional who can think “out of the box”. Waqar brings over 3 years’ technical and management experience of Telecommunications and Social Network Analytics. Waqar is a graduate of Iqra University in Telecommunications & Networks. Waqar has been involved in different projects for known communication brands, like PTCL, NayaTEL, Xtract and Ufone. He has recently been working on Social Network Analytics for Churn Reduction in pre-paid cellular market, Customer Acquisition and Customer Segmentation (Profiling & Targeting). He presents the product/service/promotion of the client creatively before public or intended audience. He also finds out and assesses the demand for product/service and design on effective campaign.

Adeel bin Khalid - Consultant

Adeel is an experienced and knowledgeable professional with over 10 years of experience in the software and IT infrastructure solutions. He has worked on and managed a number of such projects for both in-house requirements and external clients. Adeel has implemented the hosted Excellcomm SMS based solution and manages the communications channels and VPN’s with the MNOs. Adeel has a BCS in Software Engineering from The University of Lahore in 2003.

Rizwan Younas - Consultant

Rizwan Younas brings over 13 year of experience in telecom industry. He is recognized as a go getter, successfully launched Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Motorola in Afghanistan, establishing Afghanistan Business in emergency & war conditions and increase 45% growth in Afghanistan Business. He is having extensive expertise in Business & Product Development, Channel Expansion, Liaison with Banks & handsets Manufacturers, Formulating Plans & Marketing Strategy through detailed analysis and market survey. He has proficiency in handling various projects simultaneously with sound negotiations and decision making skills, adept in coordination with various departments in the organization. He is an effective communicator & leader with positive attitude, excellent management, interpersonal and training skills, adaptive to work in critical situations. He is also the recipient of the Business Manager Award of 2002 in Cellular Links.

Ahmad Salman – Consultant

Ahmad had been serving the Consumer industry for past more than 14 years, leading marketing and advertising operations of various renowned brands, possessing a highly energetic personality and a strategic mind set. Having an experience of starting up new operations and turning around failed projects .His capabilities of out of the box thinking and having a bigger picture vision gives him an iconic value within industry. He carries his expertise in analyzing the market and understanding the need of the customer. Based on the analysis he had been implementing effective marketing and communication plans. Ahmad had been involved into direct marketing, product material development, media planning, media buying, consumer research and creative planning. Ahmad Carries an experience of launching two successful brands (Hyperstar Retail Market, ROBAM Kitchen Appliances) in Pakistan and turning around a failed brand (General Air conditioners) in 2006 and multifold the sales numbers within 1 year through effective marketing and communication planning. Ahmad qualified his Master’s in Marketing with high grades and had been teaching MBA final year classes as professor of channel marketing. Had been certified as qualified negotiator, and attended the training “train the trainers” from Carrefour UAE. Ahmad is recipient of many appreciation awards from various organizations he served.

Sardar Kamran Khan – Consultant

Kamran Khan Sudozai is an award-winning, results-driven Marketing Manager with 6 years of increasing responsibility in account management, brand development and market insights positions .He is adept at using social media to attract, listen to, and engage followers/fans for corporate inbound marketing. In addition, he has a proven track record of implementing, managing and measuring strategic plans for a multimillion dollar portfolio through an attention to detail and time-objective project management .He is a goal-oriented Marketing leader, who is quick learner with good communication, organization, and problem solving skills. Kamran Khan Sudozai Began his Career with Manhattan Leo Burnett, where he established solid brands. He has worked with Mobilink, United Nations, M-Communication and MNCH/UNFPA Communication Project. Kamran Khan Sudozai was also awarded with the Presidential Gold Medal at a recent ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadar to commemorate International Human Rights Day. This medal was awarded in recognition of his services for the poor, under privileged and at risk sector of the population in Pakistan and for his advocacy in aid of ensuring fundamental freedoms in the country. His strengths include an intuitive ability to analyze and assess challenges, and to positively impact the sales growth and profit of leading companies, from both a corporate as well as the client-facing side of the business.

Maryam Shahid– Consultant

After completing her MBA in 2004 and after spending 6 months as an HR intern at Siemens and Tripack Films, Maryam joined Telenor as Management Executive. During her 6 years stay with Telenor Maryam got exposed to Business development and qualified herself as specialist in sales and distribution planning. She has extraordinary skills in carrying out competitive analysis, vendor negotiation and strategic planning. She is associated with Excellcomm since February 2010 and provide valuable advice in the areas of telecommunication commercial operations covering sales and distribution, customer services, management development, Training Needs Analysis, Training as well as Competitor Analysis with the aim of creating value, maximizing growth and improving overall business performance for clients.

Junaid Fida– Associate

After completing his BBA IT from International Islamic University in the year 2010 Junaid joined Excellcomm as Business Development Executive, however, within few months he proved himself to be worthy of becoming an Associate. At present Junaid is an integral part of our Executive Search Team. His responsibilities includes maintenance of data base, contacting talent, arranging interviews with the client organization and the finalization of the pay packages as per the requirement of the client organization.

Zia ur Rehman- Associate

Zia is an experienced systems development specialist. He focuses on new media related applications development and has extensive web, mobile, social media and communications applications experience. Most recently, Zia has developed and implemented the Excellcomm Campaign Management System (ECMS) which will form the basis of the solution proposed for the Client. Zia also provides operational support and maintenance for such application.Zia has a BBA in ITM from the International Islamic University.
